Default Carpet Installation Question

For those of you who have installed the reflectix insulation, did you glue it down before putting in the carpet? Does insulating everything (kick panels, speaker panels, back panel) really make that much difference in interior sound and heat? I can understand insulating the firewall, floor pan, tunnel and possibly back deck but would it be better to do it all? Thanks!

I glued the Reflectix down and layed the carpet, without glue, over the top of it. I went over the tunnel and on both floor pans in the front but did not get into the kick panels.

Put a couple hundred miles on the car this weekend and made a big difference.

I've got some pictures at this link. http://home.attbi.com/~jchadwick/interior.htm

Do the back deck too, it cuts down on road noise.

:iagree: And the storage compartment also. I don't hear the diff whine so much now! :D

Oh, yeah. To answer the original question: glued the Reflectix but not the carpet.

Glued the insulation down but only in strategic spots. (valleys, humps, pedal area) Same with the carpet. Especially in the pedal area/passenger foot area where you put lateral pressure on it getting in and out. Glued the carpet on the rear humps too.

On my previous C3, I installed the heat barrier, padding and carpet everywhere (front, rear, etc.) and only glued the heat barrier. It worked fine - less heat and less road noise.
