What does a 7-leaf rear spring mean?
I remember that the rear spring on my 1978 had 9 leaves, and I was under the 1972 the other day, and finally noticed that it has only 7 leaves.
Is this just a difference in the manufacturing years, or is the 7-leaf spring part of the "performance package" offered by GM?

I am wondering about this, because the owner's manual hints at a "performance package" that was available, and I know that my rear end is not 3.08, due to higher revs at highway speeds. I'm curious if this performance packege included 7-leaf spring and optional 3.36 rear

On my '69, it's part of the F-41 performance suspension package. Definitely a track (or at least smooth road) option! Mine has a 3.55 rear gear.
