Default rear window replacement

Hello:

When restoring my 72 vette, I neglected to tape up the rear window when sanding and ended up with a lot of sanding scratches. After purchasing 2 products that supposidly would remove the scratches and spending $120, I decided to replace the window for $170. I got some urethane sealer from a glass shop and went to it last night. What a mess. That stuff is awful. I have the window in the frame and sealer all over. It is almost impossible to get off of my hands, even with paint thinner. Has anyone ever replaced the rear window on a 72 vette? Any advice on how to clean up my mess or start all over? I laid the sealer along the glass and frame and spread with a popsicle stick. Cleaned it up a little and am hoping to trim and peal the rest when dry. This stuff just wants to spread when trying to clean it up when still wet. I probably should have taped off the frame and set up a tape guide on the glass. Hopefully I can clean this up without having to redo it. By the way, the urethane is almost impossible to get out of the tube with a manual caulk gun. Even after I heated it in warm water.

Thanks
Gary

Let the sealer dry....scrape the glass with a razor...clean your hands and the frame with brake cleaner. YUCK...it is a messy job!!!

After it dries use a single edge razor blade and a little rubbing alcohol for the window. As for the hands.... time, it will come off.
