Can someone please post pictures of underbody heat shields installed on your vehicles. I have a '68 and want to buy and install them as they are misssing but need to see a picture to understand better what they look like on a car. I know I need the brackets, etc. Thanks for any help.
Sometimes the heat sheild can get in the way of headers on passenger side so make sure you really want them. I dont have mine but have insulated cockpit and do not have any heat problems.
Mine are off the car right now, so I can't post pics. The square metal shields mount to the underside of the flat floorpan sections with rectangular metal brackets that are riveted to the fiberglass. The white plastic poopieleds mount to the sloping area of the firewall via two studs up on the firewall, and to the same front bracket where the lower shields mount. There was originally foil faced fiberglass insulation that was sandwiched between the shields and the floorpans. The insulation ran all the way up and over the transmission crossmember behing the floorpan.
I know that it ain't pictures, but I hope this helps a little.

I just took mines off yesterday, I only had the pass. side and was hanging.
Where are you getting yours from and how much are they for both sides?
I almost want to not use them, but in Hawaii it's hot in the summers.
Anyone knows if it make that much of a difference?
Thanks everyone for the replies. The descriptions do help! I currently have my tranny out and want to complete the insulation on the floor pan while I have the car up in the air. Due to cost though, I may have to delay the splash shields and heat shields, except for the tranny tunnel insulation.
hairinmotion, I think a lot of the major corvette parts suppliers can provide you with the heat shields, insulation, splash shields and brackets but the place I am using I don't think is a supporting member. Email me and I'll give you the details.
I have all the shields in place, and I will take a couple of pictures tomorrow. I was going to do it now, but I have just recently discovered that all 12 rechargable batteries in my house are dead. :smash:
