Default TIMING

I have a 454 with a stock cam TORKER11 intake msd 6A distributer and modual without vaccuum advance on the distributer .My question is what should the timing be set at , oh and i have a holley 750 double pumper, that is new. What happens is when i kick it , it sometimes back fires through the carb and seems to bog down a little it doesn't see to have the power i think it should have. The car runs great though when just cruising. :grouphug:

Default Re: TIMING (74BBcherryred)

You want 36 degrees of full advance, in by 3000 RPM if possible. Inital timing should be around 12 degrees.
It sounds like your problem may be a power valve. Take a look at the articles on carb tuning here http://www.corvettefaq.com/
