Default Idle mixture question-which way is which

Which way do you turn the idle mixture screws to make richer/leaner?

I have a Edlebrock Qjet replacement, 750 cfm, model 1901 (if it matters)

Turning the screws clockwise leans the mixture. There are other factors that affect the idle mixture too.

Out - richer
In - leaner

It's a needle screw.

Screw them in (clockwise) for leaner, out (counterclockwise) for richer. They are just a tapered needle valve that controls the amount of fuel that goes in for the idle circuit, so running them in pushes that needle farther into the seat, causing less fuel and a leaner idle.

Righty - Tighty. Turn the idle screws right or clockwise to lean out idle or left or counterclockwise to richen. I like to use a vacuum gauge to set the idle. Find a full vacuum port to attach the guage and set mixture screws one at a time to obtain the highest vacuum reading. Be sure to adjust each screw the same amount. (If one screw is one and one half turns out then the other should be one and a half also)
