I'd like to try it, I have heard alot of good things about it but in our area I can't find a place that sells it. I tried ordering it through the local parts store but they claim there is a problem shipping the stuff.

It does work, but if you run antifreeze it doesn't work very well. Was really intended to run with straight water for racing.

Straight water alone will help a lot in transferring heat. Antifreeze is an insulator to some extent ie.. the coefficent of heat conductivity is quite a bit less. thats why you should never run pure antifreeze. I didn't listen and had to learn the hard way.

Most of the catalogs sell it.

I've seen it a Pep Boys.

I've used it in the Corvette and in a Geo Tracker.
I don't know that it made much difference in the Corvette, but I think it dropped the Tracker a good 5 degrees.

I've used it in the past and it seemed to knock the temp down a few degrees. I noticed in heavy rush hour traffic stop and go. Temp seemed a bit more comfortable. Check with any speed shops or show and shines in your area. Ask around..there's another similiar product...can't think of the name right now...something like Blue Ice...something like that...Not sure if either has a pump lubricant or corosion inhibitor in it but you might want to add some if you're not using antifreeze...Either that or distilled water to prevent mineral build up in the rad..Save ya a flush in the future... :flag

Absolutely
QUOTE and well said.

Run aobut 85% water and 15% antifreeze and 2 bottles of water wetter. If you can't find it locally, I think Sumitt and Jeg's carry it.

I use Water Wetter in my 68' (in combination with pure water) and it reduced the coolant temp by approx. 20+ degrees...

Water wetter did absolutely nothing in my car. An overheating car is indicative of some larger issues. With the proper fans & mapping, Merlin now stays at 190 & never deviates - with no water wetter. If a car with this much power can do that, then so can everyone else. Your money would be better spent towards fan upgrades & a good tuning. Just my 2 cents..

I just put a bottle of Purple Ice in vette yesterday. It's made by Royal Purple, and I got from Jeg's. I don't know if it made a difference since I haven't driven the car yet.

Tell us what your problem is, Hauk. The need for water wetter is an indication that something is going wrong. Fix the source of the problem; don't just put a band-aid on it! :smash:

BTW: These cars run hotter than we think they should, but it's okay (really).

I bought it at Pep Boys and followed the mix directions to the letter. Can't say that it was worth it.

:iagree:

I used it in my '74, no noticeable difference, but then I never had overheating problems since I junked the original stock water pump. I have run straight distilled water (ALWAYS use distilled) with Prestone water pump lube and anti-corrosion. Now running ~40% antifreeze for corrosion protection for my new aluminum heads. No temp change. Stewart Stage II water pump, nearly new radiator and hoses.
