OK, am getting the bolt issue taken care off, now for the oil pan and fuel pump. What do you guys say, TRV sealant or just the gaskets from the complete gasket set, I got both. Which is better and for what job?
Re: gasket or RTV for ..well,..everything (sharkthehunter77)
RTV should not be used UNLESS all of the oil/grease is off of the surfaces. Even then any excess that squeezes out inside the engine will get into the oil pan. Then it will clog the screen and find it's way into every oil passage in the engine. I've seen several engines ruined this way.. The good news here is that two of the engine were Fords. :lol:Go VERY easy with the RTV
Re: gasket or RTV for ..well,..everything (sharkthehunter77)
The problems that usually occur with RV sealant are most often caused from excess use. It has to be used VERY SPARINGLY...as in a thin film 64/of an inch. Surfaces must be clean and free of oils or solvents. I don't recommend it for threads on bolts. A good thread sealer is best for this...I've used RV on my engines SPARINGLY and it sure cuts down the leaks...To each their own. Good Luck... :flag

On the intake use regular gaskets to the heads but use red (high temp) RTV on the ends (front and rear of motor/intake). :yesnod: Regular gaskets with sealer most everywhere else.
