For removal/installation,is it possible to do this with the assembly as a whole including the actuator support and headlamps ,or must you break it apart?
I take it all comes out from beneath???
I removed the headlight assy from my 76 as a complete unit. It comes out the top but you have to be very careful of the paint around the edge. This was a good way to do it because them you can put it on the bench and do a good job of rebuilding and adjusting.
The easier way to do this is to disconnect the two pieces, the headlight door and the frame that's bolted to the body.
There are three bolts on either side of each headlight, they are normally used for adjusting alignment.
Then, there are cylinders that slide onto each hinge pin that you can loosen ip with an allan key, and slide them in towards the center of each headlight assembly.
This should give enough slack to pull the pins out of the hinges and then twist the door out. As others said, watch the paint, maybe mask the edges of the opening and the door before starting.
