Lower windshield frame rust inspection.

Default Lower windshield frame rust inspection.

Looking at the lower frame from the top of the fender shows rust. Can you get a clear picture from looking under the dash or does the 'glass need to be removed. The windshield is out already.

If it's really bad, you should see some rot-through under the dash.

Also, look at the area just under the fender, where the door pillar and
WS frame meet. There is an edge with three sheets of steel spot welded
together. If this edge looks expanded and swollen from rust, you aren't
in good shape.

Here is a pic of the upper left corner of my '75 birdcage - with the dash removed:



The rot shown is the inner sheet. Unless it's rotted through, you can't see the
outer surface that the fender attaches to.

I can see some rot looking down from the base of the windshield area. I'm going to pull the dash anyway so I'll be looking from inside too. Looks like an interesting and LONG job.
