Default ignition coil question

should both terminals + and - be hot when the ignition is on?? and should there be 2 wires to the positive side of the coil and the negative side is connected to the distributor wire... i'm still having problems not getting power to the starter for the car to turn over! :( i am about ready to sell this stupid POS...anyone want a nice 74 convertible that won't start??? :banghead:

Default Re: ignition coil question (REDSHARKONBOYDS)

The answer to both your questions is yes. I have the same problem with my 69 B/B . The car will start with the key some times. I have 4spd and when I try to start with the key I have to push the clutch pedal in. I watch the amp gauage and it will show a discharge but the starter will not turn over when iI release the pedal the amp gauge goes to 0. I know I am getting power thru the neatral safety switch but not after that to the starter. I got tired of tracing wires and put atoggle switch to start mine. You have to use at least a 10 gauge to the start side of the selnode.
