To all dog owners

Did I read that right ? The authors name is Jim Willis. Probably not an uncommon
name - and it is the name of one of the C3 moderators.
Is this the same Jim - in LA ? This clip is probably from Ontario area, right ?
Well, as much as PITA I think our animals are (wife get a new one ALL the time),
I could never bring our pets to the shelter. We lost a cat a couple years back - black Maine coon cat - had her 13 years - we think a cayote got her.
Plenty of dead chicks roosters and ducks - the dogs have no unconditional love for them !!
i used to go to the pound every day trying to find a dog my dad would let us keep. he didn't want a dog at the house. it broke my heart every time i saw a cute, playful husky or retreiver or whatever one week, but didn't see him the next week. and i asked...they weren't being adopted :(
We just got "Rufus" a few weeks ago from a rescue. I can't imagine why anyone would have given him up.
My wife was sick in bed and having a really bad day the other morning. Nothing I did could cheer her up, until I let Rufus jump into bed with her. He totally changed her mood.
There's just something special about man's best friend.
BTW- he loves the Vette

Geo
This is a pic of the dog I rescued 7yrs ago, Stevie "The Wonder Mutt". Within one month of working with her she had all the normal commands down, including raising her paws in the air when I used the classic John Wayne line - "Grab some sky pilgrim". Soon after came the "Clapper" trick, two claps and she would hit the light switch
Just goes to show that if you spend the time any dog can make amazing strides forward, instead of being labeled "difficult". Come to think of it that's what most of my teachers said about me growing up, life's an ironic mistress.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
I don't know how people work for humane societies, there is absolutely no way I could find the strength to look at these faithful and loving animal companions that God gave us and destroy them with such frivolity. I truly do not know how some people can live with themselves. There is no way I could work in a shelter that kills it's dogs. Thank goodness there are no kill shelters begining to take momentum in some cities.
Here's a picture of my family members, Puddles on the left (she is yawning, not getting ready to throw up!) and Peanut, whom I call my "cyber dog." I found her on the internet and adopted her. She is not your typical yappy Chihuahua, as a matter of fact, she is a Dr. Paws pet therapy dog. She goes into hospitals and visits with everyone! She just loves her work and takes it very seriously. She knows it's time to go to work when we both put our uniforms on (she wears a bandana that says, "I'm a Dr. Paws Therapy Dog!) and we visit sick patients in the hospital. She truly is a blessing. The changes she makes in patient's attitudes and recoveries is nothing short of a miracle!
We are adopting another Chihuahua from the same person May 17th. She is 5 years old, and we are hoping that she too, will become a therapy dog. her name is BB and she weighs in at a whopping 4 lbs!
As for Miss Pudddles, well I have to confess, she's spoiled beyond any hope and we wouldn't have it any other way. She is the Queen Bee of the house.
Please love and cherish your pets everyday.......
luvmy82 I'm sure you know what DOG spelled backwards is?

It's sad to think some people really have no feelings.
That story brings back a sad memory of just that very situation when i was a child and the lesson i learned was never do it myself and i have owned and cared for my dogs as if they were my kids.
I got the pekinese from someone who had it tied to a runner outside about 11 years ago.
The terdzu i think is a little mental but we love her and the Boxer Well, anyone who has a Boxer knows you can't help but love them but you better like to play.
What a beautiful mixed up bunch of pups you have! It is these differences and difficulties that you took on that makes you that much more special!
And yes, I do know that god spelled backwards is dog....I have a special note posted to my computer that says it all "Dogs were sent to us by our Creator (whomever that is to each person) to teach us unconditional love" How true that saying is!
:iagree:
him down because of his pain. that was 1 1/2 yrs ago and i still get
teary eyed sometimes.
I think the way some people treat animals is dispicable, but I know that in the end, somehow, they'll feel the same pain of abandonment. They'll probably grow old with no one around them.

He's sitting here, next to me, right now. The wife and kids are sleeping downstairs.
Man that was sad.
But true, and spot on. Thanks.
Roper:
He came from an abuse shelter when he was ~1 year old and is the best dog I've ever seen (many others say the same thing when they meet him!) My wife and I decided to get another dog so we took Roper to the pound to make sure he would get along with the new dog (they have a fenced in area where you can let the two socialize) and he started foaming at the mouth and hyperventilating and looking at me with eyes I had never seen before, I don't think he ever forgot when his first owner dropped him off. I have never forgiven myself for putting him through that little experince.
Here's his new playmate...Sadie:
