Today going to work and walked by the Vette to get into the Honda and noticed a puddle of PS Fluid on the ground. Remember I have worked 4 years to complete this P.O.S. and the entire P.S. system has been replaced, I MEAN EVERY COMPONENET HAS BEEN REPLACED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now there is a small gash on the actuator rod. It runs longitudinly from left to right. How the hell did a gash appear like that?? I mean if you hit a object on the road or debris flys up it will scratch the polished smooth finish from front to back not side to side as the object flys under the car. So now the seal is scratched by this rough edge on the actuator rod. I just don't get it.
:cuss Dayum Cali, that sux. I would think that the only way to scratch it like that would be if something got caught between the seal and arm. BTW, doesn't look like a POS to me. 'Course, my new set up ain't leaking.
The assist cylinder has a scraper that is supposed to wipe the rod so that contamination doesn't score the rod or get inside and ruin the hydraulic seal. If the assist cylinder is brand new and you are quite sure that you didn't cause the contamination on the rod. It is possible that the cylinder was assembled with dirt or contamination between the scraper and the hydraulic seal. In other words, you purchased a defective cylinder.

No I mean the rod that comes in and out of the cylinder has a rough scratch deep into it that wasn't there Friday when I changed the oil. How the hell did that happen.
I am still saying that a metal particle could have been assembled in the cylinder when you purchased it. Of course, if your assist cylinder is packed with mud and dirt from driving, then maybe that is how some kind of hard dirt particle got caught between the scraper and the rod. Otherwise, if everything is clean and virtually brand new on the outside, then maybe you purchased a cylinder with a contaminent already inside it.
Okay Jim I get it now. Naw actually it looks like someone hit the rod with a grinder wheel, all this happening in one day's drive. I think I hit something. I'll post a picture later but it's a huge gouge.
