Took her to the muffler shop today to replace the exhaust system. It had an exhaust system on it that sounded like a vega. People behind me couldn't even tell I had a 4 speed it was so quiet. Asked and watched what was said on this forum pertaining to exhaust systems and decided on true 2 1/2 in no cat with flowmaster deltaflow 40's. For those of you with this setup, you can imagine the look on my face when I picked it from the shop and fired her up! :D :D :D Drove by the wifes workplace and even she said "WOW" I like it! Just wanted to state my thanks to you forum members for your input! One more satisfied customer.  :hurray: :flag
I have v-force mufflers (canadian copy of the 40's) and it is f'n loud. I took it to this local shop last summer and one guy said it sounded like a big block  I also heard my car with open headers for a while when they had to move my car while doing the exhaust work, i just about fell over it was so loud
does anybody like they're stock mufflers? i just got new exhaust, and went with the stock mufflers...should i have gone flowmaster? are the 40s better than the 50s?
Exhaust volume and tone are a real personal preference but I know most people I talk to like the Flowmasters. The trade offs are that GENERALLY speaking the louder mufflers should have less backpressure and allow you to make more power if there isn't a bottleneck elseware in the system.
Personally I like the quiter exhuasts and I'm still in debate over what brand muffler I would go with. Right now I'm waffling between the DeltaFlow from Flowmaster and the Edelbrocks. They have sound bytes on both their websites.
So far it's all fantasy for me so I've got plenty of time to make up my mind :chevy  :D
The Flowmasters resonate way too much in the crew compartment.
I switched to Magnaflows - and the chassis dyno said I only lost 3 HP.
Now I can drive the car AND hear my radio..

I went with the deltaflow 40's vs their regular flowmaster 40's due to the complaint of resonance from other members. They were a little more expensive but I don't notice any resonance. I did not go with an "H" pipe at this time but the muffler shop said it would cost $25 if I choose too later on.
