This morning (4/16) at approximately 6am Central Time, I watched a live interview on Fox News of 4 soldiers who were wounded in Iraq. Answering a question, one of them said that what he was looking forward to was going home and driving a 1974 Corvette that (I think) was given to him through a Congressman's hospital visit. Now that's what I would call the American spirit!
Wow, all those guys deserve their choice of the TRUE all american sports car. I think I'd pick a '67 BB vert.

I think being given a Corvette no matter what year is one hell of a gift, don't get picky, don't look a gift horse in the mouth. But I wouldn't take a cross-fire motor.

Hey, I resemble that remark!!!!! :jester I hope the young GI enjoys his C3; it's the LEAST we could do to say 'THANKS' to him... :flag :chevy :flag :chevy :flag
The wounded soldier was 19 year old PFC Michael Meyers. I thought he already owned it because the quote was in answer to a question about what he was going to do next, and he said that he was going home and couldn't wait to "hop into my freshly painted 74 Corvette and go cruise around town". I fealt that if it was given to him, why would he have mentioned the fresh paint job? Not that it matters. The point is, he was going home to get in his Vette and go cruise!!!! :D :flag :steering:
Mako,
You may be right. I was walking in and out of the room during the interview and may have misunderstood that the Vette was given to him. I think Smokehouse knows him, so maybe he knows whether he already has a vette.
.. then it might be a nice gesture for all of us on the CF to have his vette rebuilt to the exact way he wants it as a gesture of our appreciation.
