I currently have a LS6 454 / 425 HP in my 71. It has a rebuilt Carter AFB on it. It dumps a lot of gas at Idol and I feel it is a bit under powered for the car.
I would like to go to a 750 cfm. Im not a fan of Holley carbs so I would like to know what other BB folks are using.
Don't like Holleys? :skep: Holleys are pretty easy to tune and reliable. I had a 600 vs on my old 350 69 camaro for years with no problems. I had a 750 vs on the 406 in the same car for years also ( had the car from 78 to 92). Got an 850 on my vette now that runs flawlessly (after i tuned it, that is). To each his own. N-E-Way, for that 454, I would run some type of 830 or 850 on it.
It seems that holley carbs always seem to need tuning. Espically if they sit a while. I like to look of the Demon carbs. I think I would like to try one. Not sure about mech versus vacuum secondaries.
I think that the best carb for your setup would be the Holley 80528 750 double pumper (mech. secondaries)
The 80528 is the racing version of the 4779. It has the Dominator fuel bowls, 4-corner idle etc...
I use the 80528 and it's the best carb that I've ever had on any of my cars..
The has a m21 4speed with 3:36 gears. I like the idea of Mech secondaries. Has anyone had experiance with the Speed Demon 750? How are they to tune vrs. a holley?
