Default Vette's in the shop

RE The left rear clicking sound that I've been wrestling with for too long now. It got to the point after putting in that stall converter that I was afraid the thing would come apart.

UPDATE: I drove into the Vette shop that did the rear bearings last Fall. Went for a ride with him and said "FIX IT!" He thinks the noise is he splines on the flange walking on the splines of the stub shaft.

In fact, he took me in his parts dept and pulled a new and a used stub shaft and also a new and then a used flange. Setting all four parts on the counter, I was amazed! You need to really MIX & MATCH the flanges and the stub shafts to get a tight fit. Oddly enough, the NEW axle and the NEW flange were not the tightest fit. It was evident to me that this could be the prob. Of course he needs to disassemble the bearing to pull those things apart for inspection anyway.

So I'm confident :cuss that when he's done this time :yesnod: that noise will no longer be there. No labor charge  the most I may need to buy is a flange/yoke that is a tighter fit on the axle.

Of course, he may get in there, and find that the bearing was set up wrong too. Well' see! :steering:

Just got done rebuilding my trailing arms. On one side after everthing was together it made a ticking noise as I spun the spindle. Turned out the one wheel stud would rub against the parking brake shoe retaining spring. The spring cup was on an angle. Had to take everything apart & turn the spring over to get it to sit correctly.

Just another possibility :)

OK now Here's the final update

Just picked it up. WHOPEEEEEE! For about a mile. Then the next click ... same from left rear.

Actually it is Greatly! Diminished though. I almost have to MAKE it do it by brake-torquing it. What they did was disassemble it, check the bearing and stub axle. The flange and splines on the axle were fine. He reassembled with tighter clearances on the bearing. Noise diminished but not gone. :mad He did not charge me a dime; he waranteed the "repair"

I had an annoying clicking noise too. It was a wheel weight clicking on the parking brake retaining clip
