OK, I was going to go buy the stuff from lowes for insulation under the carpet but wanted to ask this first.
A couple of years ago I seen a mustang that was getting re-done carpet. Under the insulation they put a coat of Rhino lining truck bed liner. They said it keeps the noise down, helps prevent rust and keeps the heat out. Has anyone here done this? Seems like a good idea but i'm not sure.
Re: Another insulation/heat barrier question. (77Dream)
The only downside I can think of is how does it smell. If it takes a long time to dry or if it stays semi pliable like undercoating it may stink up the interior for a long time. Just a thought.

I bought a 5 gallon tub of quiet coat which is a thick paste. I brushed it on to the firewall, floor and door panels. It is better than undercoat because it not only insulates sound, but actually has the same acoustic properties as the films like dynamat. According to the companies that all make different versions of the stuff, it converts the vibrational (sound) energy into heat and since the heat is so minimal, it effectively cuts down on the sound.
I haven't driven the car yet to test it, but the stuff does dry completely and stays a little flexible. It has no smell and can be painted.
Just one other option. :)
BTW... I only used about half a gallon to put three coats on the firewall, tranny tunnel, floorboards, doors. So the extra will need to find other uses on the car. :)
