Help Please. I am trying to get my 82 Silver Anniversary edition out of winter storage and working again. I have the usual problems... frozen calipers, slipping transmission, but I have a new one this year and don't know where to start: My injectors (both) only drip...maybe 1 drop a second when cranking. Is it best to remove the injectors and test fuel pressure or test at the fuel filter? Any help is much appreciated.
they should spray while cranking. If you stop cranking the fuel pump should stop running. Whjen you turn the ign. to "on"it should run for a few csecs (you can hear it running)
Check fuel pressure, might be a bad pump. With no pressure the injectors drip.
Thank you. If I disconnect the fuel line at the Throttle body, how much fuel will pump when cranking or is there a better way to test the fuel pump? Also, another thought is that the fuel is 6 months old (approx 5 gallons in the tank). Does fuel get bad enough in 6 months to totally clog both injectors. Appreciate the help.
PLace a fuel pressure gauge inline.. easiest is in the rubber line where the fuel filter is (you can remove the filter for checking the pressure)
If you would remove the fuel line and just switch to on, the fuel would be all over the engine if the pump is working properly. Also, it doesn't give a relationship to pressure since there's no restriction w/ the line disconnected. It's a fire hazard and not a good way to check it.
Fuel can go bad, it'll get situp like bu I doubt it would be like that in 6 months. Check for resin like deposits on the bottom of the tank, if it's there clean it. Replace the fuel filter too.
