Well i have installed a mini high tork starter. Of course it only has 2 hookups. 1 for the battery, 1 for start assist. mine old one has 3, so l leave off the coil side, so points wont be hot all the time and burn up. somebody says it should be hooked up as I did have it at one time. but the coil was hot all the time. So I hooked it up again to batt side, hooked up the Battery and smoke flys, so I unhook the batt and the wire, now I have nothing to the coil. Before I did have when the key was on. but I couldnt get fire to the the plugs. all grounds are hooked up. Now I need to trace the wires to find out where they should be going. Thanks Larry :cheers:

Thanx Brad for the help. I found the short. and have it rewired. So now i have to wait for the Pertronix to come in. That should get rid of my problems with the coil assist wire. since I dont want a full 12 volts at the coil all the time. I think that would cause me a lot of problems.
