Starting late last season.... car started bogging, hesitating, stumbling on light acceleration from stop or go. Pretty bad, otherwise runs ok. Has new qjet from last year. Accel pump squirts good. Timing set fine. Vacuum is steady, but low (14). Bad vacuum leak somwhere? Distrib advance? Intake manifold perhaps? I put on a performer last year with the new carb.
Anything simple to check before I take her in? I can't figure this out. I am probably going to reset the manifold. Could decked heads or block cause alignment or sealing problems with the intake? (the engine was rebuilt once).
Re: Whats causing this stumble/hesitation? (trs77)
make sure the "power piston" is not stuck in the bore. you can do this thru the bowl vent by pushing down with a small screwdriver with the engine off. it should push down and spring back up. :chevy

So after all your mod it ran fine, then after a while it started to stumble? If that's the case I think your on the right track to recheck the the torque settings on the manifold.
If you pull the carb to do it make sure you put a new gasket on.
Re: Whats causing this stumble/hesitation? (trs77)
mine started doing the same thing. About a month ago I found that there was NO resistance on the secondary air valves. I tightened the windup spring in accordance with Lars' tech paper, and it solved the problem.
Mine WAS boggin bad if I got into the secondaries below 2500 RPM. Now I can just punch it at any RPM. :steering:
