Hi Group..I have a quick question for you knowledgeable body guys. Is the front body mount on my 80 ( right at the front top of the nose ) the same as the rest of the body mounts on the car? I'd like to replace mine but I'm not really sure what to order as I can't find it in any of my books...My local Corvette shop guy says he doesn't remember seeing one in his and asked me to bring the old one in. I know someone here has replaced theirs and knows.. for sure...Thanks Folks.. :steering:

Mounts are the same. Orientation of mounts is different. Your 1980 Corvette shop manual page 2A-2 has replacement instructions and an orientation drawing is on page 2A-4.
Usually if one mount is bad the others will not be far behind. Several threads on changing body mounts in the archives.
Thanks mapman..I knew someone would have an answer for me. I was a little perplexed as to why the guy at the Vette shop would'n t know this. I guess that's why I end up ordering so many of my parts over the net. He was out of shop manuals for my year..and should have some new ones this week..I'll definately be picking one up. Thanks Again for your help..
HHmmmm - you're talking about a rubber mount that is in the nose suport bar, right ?
It resides just below the emblem on the nose ?
I recall seeing one near the rotted hole in my 75 - but I haven't seen them anywhere, either.
I was gonna weld in a piece of steel and make it solid. :seeya
I'm lucky I guess. Mine was solid with very little rust anywhere. The car had been in a front end accident before I got it. There were many parts broken and some missing all together. It was wired and patched together. I was going to have the car painted this year but figured that it was pointless unless the front end was solid again. It's cost me a fortunce and has taken almost two months but I'm almost ready to put it back together. I swear every nut, bolt, screw, and washer forward of the firewall, has been either replaced with new or buffed to new like condition. It's like putting together a model..everything either new or cleaned and painted like new. I noticed while I was working on it that the front left frame extension is slightly bent...just the extension, no the actual frame, as the front tires wear even. I'm sending it this week I hope to have it straightened and then it's off to the races and the rebuilding begins..You may want to reconsider mounting the nose without a rubber though..I think the rubber helps to absorb some of the vibrations and maybe helps to prevent cracking..I'd be inclined to put some kind of rubber cushion in there...I'm hoping to get a used one that looks better than mine sometime this week..Thanks for the posts folks... :steering:
