Default Stupid question about A arm flaps

I removed my beaten up a arm flaps in the fall before engine replacement and had new ones delivered this week. I installed them with the push pins going in from the engine compartement. Now when the engine is running they are getting sucked up into the AC compressor and the alternator! Why is this happening? I thought the flaps just sat on top of the a arm. Should the pins go through the wheelwells, I don't think this would make a difference. Thanks for any help.

Did you use all the pins to hold the flap in place? They also have a notch in each side of the flap that is to be tucked in the A arm. Send a pic of what you have.

I don't know how to post a pic after I take it. I'll look to see where they should be tucked.

They tuck back under the A arm. Look at the notch.. That's where it goes into the A arm and tucks back.

As others have noted, tuck in the flaps.
