Default Temp sending units???

I'm installing a 502 in my 74 454 and noticed I have two sending units in the 454 heads. Do the big blocks use 2 or am I missing something here? The one on the drivers side has one terminal and the passenger side has two terminals.

I don't know but if there is only one terminal it could be a grounding for a warning light so if the motor overheats the red light comes on. I have one in my passenger head that turns on a light at 230F. The other one might be a temperature gage. My temp gage is connected also to a single terminal in the drivers head.
Just guessing though.

On my 72 the one in the pass head with two terminals was for the transmission controlled spark (TCS) system. Mine was disconnected years ago.

:iagree: R/H head temp sensor is for the TCS system (emissions) for 1972.
