Default Oil where it was not expected

Took the vette for its annual inspection and no problems. Even the emergency
brake held.. Decided to stop and
have some breakfast to celebrate. My floor mat slipped while I was getting out
and then I noticed all the OIL in the carpet. To make a long story short.. when I
rebuilt the engine I replaced the oil line to the Guage with a Sunpro line. I found
that the flare connection did not compress around the line when attached to the
original guage in the car. It has been leaking about a drop a minute for some
time. I did notice about a 1/4 quart of oil missing at oil changes but did not give
I much thought. To get it to seal, I had to put a flare on the line and connect
the line to another Sunpro guage I just happen to have laying around. This connection did not leak. Disconnected the Sunpro and the flare was tight around
the oil line. I then connected it to the guage in the car and No Leaks.. Tested for
about 30 minutes with the guage cluster hanging out. Now I have to replace my
carpet as it was ruined.
Just wanted to pass this little tidbit along incase anyone else is thinking about
replacing that line that has nothing wrong with it....
