Default 71 Headlight Help

When I turn on my headlights the driver side comes completely up, but the passenger side only comes up about half way. When I go around to it I hear a slight hissing sound. I can grab it and pull it up all the way and it stays in place and the hissing sound dissapears. Any suggestions?

Thanks

I would first check the vacuum hoses on the canister by the headlight. There should be 2 hoses on each one (1 on the front and one on the rear). You can see the one on the rear a lot easier by opening the hood .

If the hoses are all on tight and you don't see any cracks in the hoses, I would be that your seal is bad in the headlight vacuum canister. My 74 was doing the same thing that yours is doing. Most of the parts catalogs have the seals and the dust boots available. I think I got mine from Zip and in fact you can view the entire repair procedure on their website. I replaced the seals and boots in both of mine and they work like new.

Sounds to me like you most likely have a actuator seal problem. Fairly easy, common, and inexpensive repair.
