A quick question for those fo you who have the fiberglass sidepipe covers.
Do you have to provide a brace from the lower edge of the cover back to the frame?
I am concerned about the covers being attached at the top edge only - I imagine that driving down the road could cause these to kind of flop (in and out) at the bottom under the pipe.
does anyone have a brace back to the frame from the lower edge of the cover?
I will be mounting these this weekend and was curious what others had done.
I have the fiberglass covers on mine, and have had no problems with them just being attached at just the top. No floping at all at speed. You will have no troubles.
I also have a question for anybody who has used fiberglass covers. Did you use the existing rocker panel holes to fasten them, or just drill new hole and tap them?

Good question -I'll add that to my list as well - any takers on answering this one?
I did a combo, some of the original holes, plus some extra drilled ones. Works like a champ. I used some of the little fasteners behing the holes that were already there.

The covers come without any holes in them. So you can drill them for the original holes ( as I did using the rocker panel moldings for templates) or add additional holes if you feel it is needed.
I used the existing rocker molding holes. My hardware kit came with a Z brace that supports the back end of the covers. This is the same brace used on the original '69 covers. They provide plenty of support for the covers.
