Default power increase expected??

i was wondering what kind of power increase was to be expected with the undercar chambered exhaust system like out of midamerica. i have the stock 2-1-2 system on my car right now. i removed the cat and welded in a piece of straight pipe in it's place. the mufflers i have now are the dynomax turbo style replacements. thanks for your help

You might loose a little bottom end TQ in exchange for some top end HP. Im not sure how much of a gain but its a worthwhile trade off. Every little bit helps. It will especially be helpfull to yur L82 since they have bigger camshaft to begin with. For stock, the L82 is a very torquey cam and great for the everyday street car. .450 int lift and .460 ex lift on the L82 cam. Low duration for good drivability too. These profiles rival many of the moderate aftermarket cams.

If you're looking to get as much performance out of it without moding the engine, you may want to re-curve the distributor and re-jet the carb as well.

Check with Ganey. I think he doesn't like chambered -- you're better off with true duals and mufflers of your choosing :yesnod:

Without additional modifications to improve flow (carb, intake, heads, manifolds), the exhaust pipe change will be limited to better sound and limited hp increase.

I would say a switch to headers would be a very good investment. The stock manifolds just don't flow enough to give you what you're looking for. :nonod:

Yes. Headers and fresh duals matched with re-curve, tune-up and carb rebuilt/rejet would be a very cost effective approach.

Next step: cyl head porting, intake and air cleaner.

And on and on and on... :smash: :smash: :smash:
