Changed the water pump, now the A/C brackets don't align?
The truth of the matter is, I guess they didn't line up with the other water pump either. I noticed there wasn't a bolt in the holes when I took it loose. Seriously though, the hole in the front of the bracket that mounts to the manifold is supposed to line up with the hole in the bracket that mounts to the water pump. They are are about 1/3 of an inch off and there is no way to adjust them. I guess I'll just torque the other bolts to the max and hope the compressor stays put! Have any of you ever seen this before and if so, what did you do to deal with it?
Tomorrow is the big day. If I can get the A/C compressor to stay put, I'm going to attempt to start the beast after redoing the cooling system, replacing the timing chain and cam, new radiator, and detailing the engine compartment. Friday is the day to mount and align the hood. Wish me luck!

Did you order a Corvette spec water pump? I found out a few weeks ago that the Corvette pump is a bit shorter than the other "short" Chevy water pumps, and thus will make belt alignment incorrect. What water pump and pulley set are you using, and is it the original engine? If it's not an original Corvette engine with all the correct brackets then a Corvette pump will not line up the belts. Is the offset between the water pump and accessories towards the front or rear of the car?
Also, did you get the ignition shield wing nuts yet? Should be there soon...

Jeff, I got the wing nuts and thaks so much. I have a totally matching numbers car. I put on a Stewarts Stage 1 water pump and it is supposedly for a Corvette. It just makes me wonder though, you know! :confused:
