Re: roller tip rockers??? is it worth it (Ironcross)
No, the real advantage of roller rockers is in the fulcrom, not just the tip. The cheapest I have found is in Jeg's. Harland Sharp aluminum 1.6 RR for $150.
Re: roller tip rockers??? is it worth it (Corzvette69)
The main advantage of the roller tips is reduced wear on the valve stems. The friction reduction is minimal but there. The extra lift from going to a higher ratio might be worth it if the price is right. Check the recent thread about 1.6 ration rockers for a lengthy discussion on that aspect :)
I think it depends on what you want in way of a cam...for anything near a stock cam lift height....NO, not worth it....BUT if you have a roller cam with lifts over say 450 now it's of more inportance...as the amount of scrubbing on the valve tip ends gets accentuated with the higher lift....and the point of a hi lift, roller, cam is to get everything hotrodded....so yeh, at that point it's worth it.....I have a ZZ9 cam, 480-520 lift...so I did a cheap set of roller rockers....

Comp Cams' web site has some technical data on these. 1.6 is alot of lift- I'm using the comp magnum 1.52 roller rockers but have no operational history on them yet.
