Default MSD tach drive distributor questions??

What type of cap comes on the MSD distributor for corvettes. I want to know what type of plug wires I need with it HEI or Points type. Are there any other issues with the distributor with the tach cable?

On the tach cable you'll need a small adapter to make it work that should have come with the dist if yours looks like the tach drive pictured on the left.

The adapter is a small brass tube like thing with a roll pin set into it. If you didn't get one let me know and I'll send you one. I ordered an extra thinking my distributor didn't come with one.

Points type ends and if I remember right you can't run solid core wires but you may want to double check with MSD on that one.

Just pulled the below pic from Summit's website. Double check what you get cuz mine does not have that cap or hold down, they might have changed it since I bought mine 4 years ago.

I plan on ordering it this weekend some time. I saw the pic on Summit and was wondering if I should order new wires or a different cap. I currently have HEI wires, but thought the MSD came with a points style cap. I just do not want to have to make a second order for anything later.

I have an MSD pro billet and it can use the stock cap and rotor from my original dist. (socket type) But I will be switching to the MSD hei type cap soon with their adapt a cap.

Mine came with the points type cap. I got the MSD 8mm wires and installed the boots/electrical ends myself. But then I bought mine about 5 years ago.
