I am looking at buying some wheels here this summer to replace my stock ones for the summer seasons. I have been looking a while at different types of wheels. What I have been looking for is a black wheel. It would be nice it is had a polished lip on it. Does any one have any suggestions about what kind of wheel I might be looking for? Also what measurements should I go for (backspacing and width, keeping it at the stock 15 inch height).
There aren't really many black aftermarket wheels out there. I would suggest that you might buy a polished aluminum wheel and you could have the centers powdercoated to achieve the look you desire. It would be cool to see some one do something different with the more poopular wheels(Torque Thrust II's and the like). You could probably find some custom wheel manufacturers (like boyds) to make you something special.
The stock 15 inch wheel is 8 inches wide and has a 4 inch backspacing, 0 offset. You will also need to make sure that whatever you get has clearance for C3 calipers, which require greater clearance than most cars.
AR has a wheel similar to their TT2 that has a black (grey) center section, and polished lip. If you want it darker you could always have them powdercoat it.
I was thinking about that option. I might end up doing that. I am just worried about the powder coat scratching off and me having to have it repainted. How durable is powder coat?
