EFE valve
There is an innconsistent clicking inside the EFE cannister in my 77. How do I tell if it is working properly. I took of the hose connecting to it and it is getting suction. Is the EFE needed?

The EFE is vacuum actuated at start-up by the thermal vacuum switch on the t-stat housing. That closes the heat riser control valve. It releases vacuum to the EFE and the heat riser butterfly valve at about 118F. Default on the heat riser is open so no, if disconnected, no harm will be done other than stumbling at cold start.
