Default Evercoat 870 Panel Adhesive questions?

I have few questions reguarding the Evercoat Plasticworks 870 panel adhesive.

Can this stuff bond metal to fiberglass (i.e. rebonding headlight support)?

How thick can this stuff be applied?

Does it shrink?

Will the PPG DP40 primer/sealer be compatible if I use the 970 on bare glass?

Thanks...

I used this product to bond both of the new rear quarter panels and the tail light panel I replaced on my 1969 convertible this last winter. From all of the specs I read about this product it was not made for bonding metal to fiberglass. Its supposed to be used for bonding non-smc panels together and can also be used as a filler. I always applied a thin coat on one side of the panel I was working with and then built up a nice little pyramid shaped line of adhesive on the bonding strips. You want to do a press or push of the panel into position in order to get the adhesive spread out as you align the panel. My biggest fear about using this product was making sure that I had enough time to get my panels aligned before the material setup. Its always good to have a second pair of hands.

Isn't Evercoat 870 the two part epoxy bonding adhesive with a 1:1 mixing ratio. If so (I don't remember the number of the Evercoat stuff I used a few years ago when i did mine) it will work for the headlight reinforcement just fine. For metal to fiberglass panels what you are looking for is an epoxy based bonding adhesive. The stuff i used worked very well, but it developed heat as it cured, causing it to be a little bit runny compared to Ecklers bonding adhesive.

I'm getting ready to bond the headlight support and will be using 3M 8115 panel adhesive. This was recommended as one of the best 'glass to metal adhesives to use.
I used the 870 to bond some panels during a 'glass repair. It worked well for that but I wouldn't use it for the support.

I used a 2 part epoxy made for anchoring steel into concrete, it was made by a company called strong tie I got it at a mason supply, I havent road tested yet, but this stuff gets super hard!
