I need to replace my #4 body reinforcements, a #4 nut chage, and possibly an outer seat belt reinforcement. I understand using the factory correct rivets can be a major pain. I am not looking for a factory correct resto. I just want the repairs to be strong, durable, and be somewhat cosmetically pleasing. What have other people used to re-fasten these peices?
I believe these rivets are the same as the support in the nose and are aluminum. I'll be changing these too and think I'll try flat or pan head bolts instead. I have to see what tyoe will fit wihtout causing a problem.Use never sieze on the threads. The shear strength should be much stronger then aluminum. check http://www.mcmaster.com to check for bolts.

I used the larger size body rivits to refasten all the brackets that are used on the fender skirts. What I found was that the OEM rivits that DR Rebuld has are the easyest to work with. He also has some info on his web site regarding how to install them. Once you bang in a few, there easy. Just use a ball peen and a sledge or dolly on the back side...
I replaced a few of these on the #1 body reinforcements with 3/16 stainless
pop rivets. You need to use a backup washer, though. The holes for the stock
rivets are a bit oversized to grip the rivet. I used a good amount of adhesive, too.
I have to replace the #4 pieces. I have the aluminum rivets, too. I haven't
decided for sure, but I think I'll do them with the stainless pop rivets if possible.
