Re: Door PinSwitches (rreavis)
Thanks Mucho. Now, identification. There are long, post-style pin switches at the front, near the hinges. These I think are for the courtesy lights.
Then at the bottom of the door, to the rear of the car is another much shorter switch with out the post style mounting. And on both doors they have rivets on either side of the switch, even though the switches look like they just unscrew with a 7/16 wrench.
Are they screwed into a metal piece that is riveted to the Glass body? And are these rear switches the ones for the factory alarm? :hat
Has anyone ever had to repair the metal plate? The threads are in a poor condition on mine, and I can't keep the door switch from coming loose. Cause the Door Ajar light to flash intermittently, or stay on sometimes.
I tried cleaning up the threads but the metal is thin and of poor quality.
Thanks,
Jeff

The metal is actually thick. When I broke my switches loose, I actually broke both rivets on one of them and it fell down in the door jamb area after I got the switch out. All I can say is to be careful with the metal mounting plate. I think your door ajar flashing is coming from somewhere else, as the plate is not connected to anything else that is metal.....it's not the ground, the black wire is. The metal plate is simply a mounting point for the switch.
