Low fuel pressure question
I have been chasing problem where my BB runs rich at Idol and at times I can smell raw fuel while driving or after I have stopped. No leaks can be found. I installed a fuel pressure gauge today thinking I may be getting too much fuel pressure. To my surprise, at Idol I am getting 2.5 Lbs. At 3000 RPM. I am geting 2Lbs. I suspect the fuel pump is going south. Can a weak fuel pump create an over rich condition? What is a recommened fuel pump for a 454 / 425 HP BB.

The raw fuel you smell is not necessarily a rich condition. does it puff lots of black smoke out the pipes?
Also, remember you only want about 8 or 9 pounds of pressure at the carb.
I would start looking for a leaky hose somewhere around the tank. Or I think there is a factory hose from the pump to the carb????? look for a leak there.
Be careful, there is a big danger of fire with leaking fuel...
