Today was one of those days that lets you know that God is in the heavens and all is right with the world. Its been busy at work so I went in half a day to catch up and got about three days worth of work done, phones did not ring one time in five hours. Put all the finished work in the out basket and headed for the house. It was about 80 degrees here in Dallas, the smell of honeysuckle was heavy in the air, my wife was out mowing the yard in a pair of Daisy Duke shorts and the vette was sitting in the driveway waiting for a wax job.
I picked up some new wool bonnets for my orbital buffer on the way home and also picked up a bottle of Maquire's swirl remover, gave the vette a quick wash and spent about three hours with the buffer on the side panels, buffed her real slow, just like she likes it, then followed with some showcar polish and the results were outstanding. The neighbors were lined up three and four deep just to tell me how good it looked.
Took a quick shower and grabbed the bride and we were off to find a nice place to eat, drove around SE Dallas, drove through Terrell (ugly little town) drove back to Dallas and found a little hole in the wall Italian place, sat on the patio and enjoyed a wonderful bottle of thier house wine while eating grilled chicken with portebello mushrooms and homemade bread dipped in olive oil and a house blend of pepper and spices. It was a wonderful meal enjoyed on a patio full of flowering plants and a stary sky, it does not get much better than this.
And as we are leaving the restaurant there are about ten young people, in thier early to mid 20's, standing around the vette drooling, they loved it and wanted me to know how much they liked it. It did look good but thats a biased opinion. I just slapped my bride on the butt and said lets go home and .... well, thats a story for another day.
Beautiful weather, time to polish the vette, a great meal and cool air blowing through my hair, just the way God intended.
I can totally relate to your story, except at the end I didn't whack the back of my husband's butt and tell him, "honey let's go home" :-) (somehow, I find whacking his butt kind of tacky and demeaning)
Anyhoo, this was a wonderful late spring/early summer day in June and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. Low humidity.... it was just one of those perfect days to cruise.
Got a group of friends together from the Forum and we decided to do a 30 mile cruise through a local park. We had a pack of about 20 Vettes of various years, and it was a beautiful thing to behold!
I distinctly remember the pack cruising with the T-tops off, driving the Vette I have dreamed about for 20 years, listening to some vintage Bob Seager and feeling the sun on my face and asking why God created such a beautiful day for me.
At the end of the drive, we had dinner and even a few of us got together later at a restaurant near the river and having drinks.
He likened it to his best creation of all. The curvatious femal anatomy. (YUMMY)
Great story....I had a memorable Vette moment similar to yours this fine 65degree morning here in northern Illinois.
Have Fun

Just got back home from a short overnight trip. One of the best spring days I can recall for our area in Alaska. Temps in the mid 50's. Drove the vette up to the Princess lodge in Cooper landing to celebrate our 28th anniv. T-tops off, sunshine, cruising winding mountain road with snow on mtn. tops. LIFE IS GOOD! Had pretty much the same feelings thinking this is what it is all about. Endorphines were recharged after another winter season. :D
