Who makes a direct bolt on steering wheel for a '71 non tilt column? I want something a little more sporty, thicker and smaller in diameter that the beast that comes stock. I would like to have something that has brushed aluminum style spokes. Any advice or pics?
im not sure about this Wade but i would think that Grant would be the way to without spending a ton of money...they have some pretty nice wheels...
i especialy like the Signature Series...

I would agree that the latter C3 wheel is by far the easiest and is very comfortable, and will look most appropriate. But I went with a Momo racing line. The screw pattern is exactly the same, but the holes are rotated a few degrees. All I needed to do was pull the hub to re-center the wheel and cut a few notches for the screws that hold the horn button in place.
I'll see if I can post a few pics of the wheel in my car.
Ok, here's the pic:
Notice that the emblem on the horn button isn't perfectly centered. That is because of the holes on the momo being roteted a few degrees. If I were to straighted the button it wouldn't be able to be pushed because the screws get in the way.
This isn't perfect, but the wheel is VERY comfortable and the price wasn't bad, I think it was about $120.
blackrat, checkout Ecklers catalog p24 part#39428 sounds like just what you want Ijust put one on my 68.The only mod is bending the turn signal lever out. clem68 :steering:
The late C3 77 up is very good. Like the Grant direct bolt on better.
Have the black leather one on my Corvette. It has polished slotted spokes & a shallower dish which moves it closer to the dash- great if you are tall.
Thanks for the pics guys these are what I am looking for.
Ganey,
Your wheel is a Grant? Do you have the part number? I am a pretty big guy so anything that will give my 6'6" 240lb pound frame more room is a welcome upgrade :yesnod:

Yes. MAD 602-481
77 up st. column is closer to dash as well.
I have a 14" Grant with 3 black spokes and black leather rim that came off the standard column on my 71 that I just replaced with a TT. It's not perfect but it's very serviceable and it's a direct bolt on.
Offfering at $25 plus shipping.
