Well my paint has finally given up on any shine or lustre. Coats of wax, color wax, nothing works. It looks good when it is wet but only then.
Can anyone suggest, other than a paint job, something to help with the shine a bit? Evidently the clear coat is non-existent and it even feel "dull."
I think the car must have been painted a while before I got it - you know, lets give this a $50 paint job and sell the beast. A new paint job is on my want list but not for quite a while. Still working on the  :cuss :banghead: rear wheel bearings.
You might consider an Earl Schieb job. They actually use pretty good paint and in this area you can get their best with clear for under $400. I have seen a couple of them and they are not bad. Guaranteed to not peel or dull for several years. Look pretty good on a driver.
I agree with silvr77..a good rotary buffer and compound.
Not an orbital buffer...use a rotary
Orbital buffer is not much different than doing it by hand.
Take some before and after pics for us.. :D
I would be very carefull with a rotary buffer as you can easily burn what little paint you have right off. I would first give it a really good bath. Next I would clay bar the paint. Next I would use a mild rubbing compound by hand or orbital buffer, next a good polish (not a wax) such as Meguiar's Show Car Glaze, and lastly apply a good coat of high quality wax. I bet you'll be surprized at the results.
Good Luck!!
