anti-freeze/coolant question
Its a dumb question I guess but here goes. Is the red anti-freeze/coolant compatable with the green stuff? I just noticed the stuff I just bought is red. Need to add some in my truck. dont wanna drain anything, just add some red to the green thats already in there. Can I just dump it in and mix em? The jug says GM DEX-Cool.

There should be a warning on the jug. I had read that they are not compatible. Specificly I heard that they two mixed can form a gel over time and clog the cooling system. But I read it on the internet, so take it with a grain of salt.
If it doesn't specificly say that it's compatible with conventional coolent trade it in for good 'ol ethyl glychol.

NO!! DEXCOOL is NOT compatable with Ethelyne Glycol. There is a red coolant (I'm totally forgetting the name right now) that can be mixed with anything with no problems but it's used in commercial applications (semi's etc).
If you haven't opened up the DEXCOOL take it back to the parts store and get green.

Thanks for the replies. I knew it was a good idea to ask before just dumpin it in there. Ill take it back and exchange for the glycol based coolant.
