CarFax says "Invalid VIN" ???

Default CarFax says "Invalid VIN" ???
I tried to use the one-time free CarFax on a 1973 Corvette, and it comes up as "invalid" even though I know the VIN entered is correct.

What's the deal on CarFax and older cars???

VIN number is too old, not sure what year you can start searching on but I think it is in the 80's.

CarFax only works with the 17 digits VINs which came out in '81.
