This is the best news of my year, I just finished up my last final (went great), came home, started enjoying my summer and all of the sudden a UPS man shows up asking about some heads!?? wwwwhat wwwwhat??? These were on backorder until the end of May! Needless to say I am a very proud father of a set of awesome heads!
Some updates on the 406:
All the machine work has been done, we put together a mock assembly and clearanced the block where necessary, everything is good, no cam clearance problems with the 6" rods. Deck height is at .010" for a quench of .048".
Here's a cool part: I had the color of my car computer matched and put into aresol cans, and the motor matches my car! :) As do some accessory brackets and other things.

Thanks for looking over my ramblings, I've been working on this since December and have collected most of the parts. I am building a website that documents EVERYTHING with pictures and video, including machine work and assembly. I will post a link when its finished.
Fever So do I, especially when they show up 3 weeks early! :)
81vette I've been eyeing your plans for a while now, you should have quite the runner on your hands when you get it all together. Have you got your heads yet?
bence13_33 I hope so, I am going to run it on a local chassis dyno once everything is in a decent state of tune so hopefully It will put out some good numbers. I would like to get some low 12's as I plan on racing it quite a bit this summer. Thinks its doable?
Gordonm Thanks, I've spent nearly the last year researching and adapting my budget within reasonalbe limits . We'll see how the halfshafts hold up.
Your 406 sounds fairly close to mine, except the cam and intake. I went RPM intake for mid range, and a hydraulic cam cause I'm cheap.
Good luck, and if you haven't swapped in the aluminum radiator yet, you're going to need it.
The AFRs are a nice piece. Their already ported from the factory which makes them bolt right up with great flow. I like the design of the TrickFlow Twisted Wedge heads and I'm confident I can clean up the castings myself so when I finally spring for heads that's my plan.
Looks like you've got a real solid foundation on that mill, should hold up great even with the planned thrashing assuming the machine work is up to snuff .
And you've picked my planned ignition system too. I like how you think
