I'm going to put on a better set of heads, get rid of the ...882's, and seen a set ot #0135320 heads on E-Bay that say "Reverse Flow" . What does that mean? Are these a good upgrade
Very bad upgrade. :) They won't work with your block, reverse flow means they're LT1 (92-96) heads that have a different coolant path design than our regular small blocks do.
If you're not in a hurry I'd hold out for some aluminum heads like Trickflow, AFR, or Edelbrock. Even if they're used and need a valve job and guides you should get a lot of performance for your money. If you can't find a set used you might even want to save up and buy new.
Heads are the most expensive peice of the performance puzzle and the most labor intensive. So if you're going to go, go with the best you can so you only have to do it once.
Agree with Snowman entirely. By a pair of cylinder heads you can grow into. Definitely one of the worst place to cut corners.
If you're really trying to build up your car on a budget though, just go with a mild cam and portwork on the stock heads. I don't see any need to go out and buy a cheap head, unless you're really only interested in stock replacement.
