I'm after the front chassis crossmember for a SB '71 that links the two front chassis legs and the rad sits on it. Any recomendations to where to get one as I'm the other side of the pond?
I believe you're referring to the "batwing" crossmember that bolts into the frame and rots out alot? They run about $150 new unless you find a used one for about $75. Any of the vette suppliers should have them-check the Zip site annd get 5% off or go to Calodonia classic corvette parts, they make them. Sorry I don't have their web site handy.

Thanks Craig, it's good to be here. I may not know that much about Vettes but I do know my way round most German marques so if you guys need help with a Porsche or an Audi etc, just let me know, :steering:
The part is called a removable front crossmember, and they do rot out. I just replaced mine on my 69 SB. I picked one up from Vette Products of Michigan. Address below. It matched up perfectly with my original and service was very good.
FWIW, I found that a number of the bolts attaching the crossmember to the frame were badly rusted. I broke one off and rounded off the heads on three. I picked up a set of Craftsman Bolt-Out bits and got all of the rounded heads out no problem. It looks like I will need to heat the broken bolt first.
Be sure to hit all of the bolts with your favorite rust breaker before attempting to turn them! Good luck.
