I am in the final stages of building my TPI motor for my 80 Vette (should have it in tomorrow). I was test fitting the intake (scoggin-dickey vortec base) and there is a HUGE gap in between the front and rear of the intake and the china rails of the block. I am used to using silicone for that area, but this is rediculous. I called Scoggin-Dickey and they said black RTV is what came from the factory. I went to the local dealership and they said that there was no part for the year (96 Vortec truck). Does anyone have any experience with this, am I just crazy.
gap vertically between the intake and block? or horizontally? it doesn't sound right..whatever it is. vortec heads do take a special intake..not the standard intake that goes on early model heads on small blocks.
Try over on www.thirdgen.org a few guys over there running that combo, post in the tpi section. I have heard that what you are running is a great combo, not going to get you into the 500+hp range but is great for the $.
I know considering the TPI is a TORQUE MONSTER, it should be a lot of fun to drive. I am going to take some pics tonight, and I should get them posted within a couple of days.
