You will need 4 pints (2 quarts). I used an 80W-90 gear lube. I poured out a little from each bottle and squirted half of the 1052358 additive into each one...then shook them up. I recommend this cause the additive is so thick it may take several miles before the ring gear will mix it up in the differential. The specs do call for GM part# 1052271, but I have not seen it listed on any containers in the stores. The standard differential calls for a 80W-90 gear lube, which is why I use that for my rear end and for my manual transmission.

most performance minded people like to use mobil 1 synthetic or redline. If you use mobil 1 you have to use a posi additive if you have posi, but if you use redline you dont have to add an additive as its already in the oil. Of course, its rather hard finding redline.
But i've used mobil 1 synthetic gear lube in several cars of mine, and i can say it made quite a difference. The rear end just felt a whole lot smoother.
