Three words:

Six Point Sockets

Without six pointers - you'll be rounding off manifold bolts for sure.
Probably do you justice to soak 'em overnight with penetrant.

Manifold bolts: very very wicked

 and plenty of it.

Other than that, 2 people is a big help. 1/2 of the work can be done from above, the other 1/2 get's done from below.

You will need 2 people when you go to feed those headers up from below anyway.

its not that bad....if you got A/C..then you'll have a fun time.....take exhaust manifolds out from the top and install headers from the bottom. piece of cake! :lolg:

I can't speak to the A/C issue. See my other post...

But as far as installing headers, it's a piece of cake. But I do have suggestions.

First off, IMHO, forget the copper gaskets ($30+) and go with the cheap, thick, paper gaskets. The thick paper will better compensate for any variance in the header flange and will allow for better sealing. I chased down leaks forever with my copper gaskets. Then I canned them for the cheapo's and boom, no (few) leaks.

Make sure your fasteners are good. Tighten the headers from the inside out. That is, on the drivers side, start with the fasteners between 3 and 5. Then go out. This is very important.

Some suggest Lock-tite. Probably not a bad idea, though I've never done this one myself.

The only other issues I've had with the headers, is starting them on the head. At times, the collectors can run interference for you, making it difficult to get the bolts lined up. Just swear a lot. You'll have it in no time.

Throw the paper gaskets in the garbage. Get some good percy's aluminum gaskets and they will seal properly with no leaks passenger side goes in from top and driver side from the bottom. The bolts should be sprayed first and mine came off very easily. If you have A/C you will need the addtional bracket to clear the A/C

I already have the percy gasket, and a set of ARP header bolts

As far as the A/C, it never worked so when I changed my waterpump last fall I took off the belt. So a new bracket isn't really needed... hell I might pull the compressor out as it's been nothing put dead weight since I've owned the car...
