whats this vette worth?
im looking at a 77 L-82-4 speed for a friend...
body is pretty nice but will need paint in the next few years...
the underneath (frame etc) looks pretty good...
has a fresh motor (500-1000 miles) and a new clutch...runs great...
i know the guy that rebuilt the motor...
the dash is out cause a radio wire shorted out and burned up some underdash wireing...it was a smoldering with no flames so there is no fire damage but would need a underdash wireing harness at $500...
all of the dash stuff that you dont see is in VERY nice shape...
needs front carpet...seats are like new...door panels are fair...
will need all door and t-top rubbers replaced...
needs 4 tires...
lots of new stuff including exhaust and all of the headlight vac stuff including actuators...front a arm bushings etc have also been done recently...
car can be bougt for $6000-$6500 and will need about $3000-$3500 to bring it to respectable driving condition...
we dont mind doing the work but we will have about $10,000 into it by the time its roadworthy and fairly nice...
the car appears to be a tight car and IS drivable for a test ride even tho the dash is out...
im pretty sure we can even get Steeroids in it and stay at that money... :yesnod:

by your description, not sure if the original motor was rebuilt or it has a replacement block. If original motor and most of the drivetrain is still original, you may have a decent chance at breaking close to even at around $10,000, after you do all the necessary repairs, but that depends on how much of the work you can do yourself and would not include bodywork and paint. If you will not be doing some of the work yourself, I would pass or offer at least $1,500 to $2,000 less than the ask price.

I've been accused of lowballing estimates, but personally, I wouldn't give more than $3K or so. Car sounds like it needs a lot of expensive & extensive work, and you can get a good, tight '77 driver (what you'll have when you're finished) for $8K or less with very little work needed. I agree with others that the price is a little too high. I think $4k would be fair considering it has a rebuilt motor, 4 speed, and will be a decent looking car when it's put back together. :cheers:

I also would agree you are paying to much. :iagree: That car should not cost you more than 3500.00. It is sad, but that is unfortunatly what they are worth at this time.
