I put in a 180 tstat per group recommendation. Although my gauge isn't really reading much higher, I am getting a noticible better burn in fuel and the motor warms up much faster.
Now the fun part. I go to take off across an intersection, just a nice fast take off with out dropping the clutch and I tach out in 1st go to 2nd and smoke just comes a rolling in my window and the intersection is filled with a white cloud and the smell of fresh burned rubber. First time I ever got the tires to smoke.
One thing bad, I only left one mark accross the 4 lanes. Aperently I don't have posse. Guess I better burn the rest of these tires up before I put my new ones on.
I still have the old carb on, the Holly 650dp is being rebuilt currently. Should be on next week.
:iagree: And after you put it in find an empty parking lot and run the car in circles at low speed to work it in. Alternate your circles (clockwise/counterclockwise) and don't be surprised if you hear a few clunks as things start to loosen.
A little  , seems if you are leaving only one mark your clutch pack might be gone. Now if you where leaving two marks and getting 'clutch chatter' around corners then I would think a fluid change might help. But since your posi isn't catching I don't think fluid is going to do much unless the fluid is the consistency of grease and not allowing friction in the clutch pack.
